The latest additions to the NC Wine Hopper app are:

  • Walkthrough video of functionality available on the Help menu (? in right corner)
  • Search by mileage from your location (10, 25, 50)

For those of you who like to do your wine hopping in the state of Virginia, the VA Wine Hopper will be available soon. It will initially contain over 250 wineries with a quick growth to more than 300 with quick addition of some restaurants and shops.

New Android Features Released

The anticipated features are here – in the Android version, at least. They are:

  • Mileage from your location to the winery, shop or restaurant – mileage is approximate, use your favorite mapping program for actual driving mileage and time
  • Settings which will enable selection of the details displayed on the winery page, such as City/Region, Phone/Type, City/County, Phone/County
  • Individual notes and rating for each winery, shop and restaurant.
  • if you are on iOS, as it seems 2/3 of the users are, these changes will be available for you soon

This is a view that illustrates the five views available based on the settings you select. I can say that I hope you will never see a screen that looks like this, but after many decades of programming I have discovered that anything is truly possible with computers.

Latest Updates In Progress For NC Wine Hopper App

Personal notes, distance to each location and even more …

These items are being finalized and hopefully in place this weekend. The screenshot above shows the mileage from your location to each winery, shop or restaurant shown.

What is not shown here is the options screen which is also in development. It takes time to calculate the distances, so there will also be an option to disable distance calculation, among other options you will have.

I am still trying to get enough NC Wine trivia questions, so send me some interesting and unique (but verifiable) facts about NC wineries and owners. A couple of interesting facts included so far are – “Q: She is an airborne pilot and he is a jumper, which winery do they own? A: Rockfish Creek” and “Q: Their reception hall has two chandeliers, each made with 154 wine glasses A:Cape Fear”
